Personality type is a key determinant in both how a therapist and client bond therapeutically and the nature of the presenting issue itself . This workshop will aim to strenghten and underpin existing knowledge the therapist/ worker will have and raise a more developed understanding of Personality Disorders and how it may present itself in a client.
It will increase participants understanding in the area of personality types and disorders. This will improve and enhance their work practice.

1000-11.00 – Introduction. This workshop will explore the dynamics of different personality types and how these individuals differences need to be specially engaged with. Personality types covered will include for example Borderline, Narcissistic, Historic, Obsessive, Avoidant and Anti-Social.
1100-1115 - Coffee break
11.15-13.00 – The workshop will explore development dynamics that give rise to each personality and the kinds of unconscious / consious processes that sustain them.
13.00-14.00 – lunch break
14..00-16.00 – The workshop will focus on just constitutes a personality problem in the first place and what distinguishes this from normative self-identities.

Presenters: Kevin Fehin
Kevin is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist. He is currently employed in the Adult Mental Health Service with the HSE. Among other qualifications he holds a Masters in Psychoanalytic Studies.
