The Basic Training course introduces the Autism Diagnostic Observation System, Second Edition (ADOS-2) in a two day online course. Basic Training focuses on Modules 1-4. Additional training is needed to administer the Toddler Module.

Presenters:
Laura Carpenter, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with almost 20 years of post-graduate experience working with autistic individuals and people with other neurodevelopmental differences. Dr. Carpenter’s research focuses on autism epidemiology, identification, support, and genetics. She has authored more than 50 articles, books, and book chapters primarily focusing on autism and other neurodevelopmental differences across childhood and adulthood. In her position as a Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry at the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Carpenter coordinates an autism diagnostic clinic and trains interns and fellows in evidence-based autism assessment practices. She is also the training director for the South Carolina Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (SC LEND) program.
Dr. Carpenter completed her undergraduate training at UC San Diego, her doctoral training at Binghamton University, and her internship and fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Carpenter is a certified ADOS-2 Trainer.
Catherine Bradley, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with autistic individuals. Dr. Bradley’s research interests focus on the epidemiology, assessment, and identification of autism, as well as issues related to access to services and supports for autistic people across the lifespan. She currently serves on South Carolina’s Act Early team, a collaborative group of state leaders representing professionals, state agencies, universities, healthcare systems, private organizations, and families working to improve quality of life for autistic people. She is a Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina. Clinically, Dr. Bradley focuses on the evaluation of young children and provides supervision and training in autism diagnosis for psychology postdoctoral fellows through her role as the Psychology Postdoctoral Training Director.
Dr. Bradley attended Vanderbilt University for her undergraduate degree and received her PhD from the University of South Carolina. She completed her predoctoral internship and postdoctoral fellowship at MUSC and joined the faculty in 2013.
Dr. Bradley while not a certified ADOS -2 trainer is very experienced clinical and is assisting Dr. Carpenter and Dr, Carpenter will be responsible for the training on both days all day.
